I am driven to do my part, in the way that I can, to create more joy and empowerment in the world while enjoying the ride along the way. To me, that can look like using my trained skills and personal strengths towards that end through my vocation, and as simple as finding a connection with the people in front of me and enjoying the moment.
I studied Cognitive Science and Sociology at UC San Diego and have been honing my design and collaboration skills professionally since 2015. Through my experience and interests I’ve picked up a unique skill set that has allowed me to contribute to: the early-stage design, launch, and iteration of a education technology product suite; creating offline-first technologies; integrating equity thinking into the design process; designing for B2B (in the context of nonprofits); co-creating a design system; design culture at nonprofits; and products with internationalization and accessibility considered from the beginning.
I recognize and respect the power that technology and its design holds in shaping how people think, act, and create their own impact on the collective, for better or for worse. It isn't something I take lightly and as a result, I strive for carefulness, social awareness, and intentionality in my approach to design while remaining open to constant improvement. I've come to see the designer as more of a facilitator of this process and so I strongly value collaborative approaches that listen to and action the voices of diverse perspectives – within and outside of the team I work on, and especially those at the margins.
In my spare time, I enjoy being in nature, live music, dance, fitness classes, cooking, good stories, indulging random crafty urges, gaming, and quiet moments cuddling with my cat. I also like to find ways to continue developing my creative and visual design skills by selling digital templates and regularly contributing to icon and graphic libraries like Canva’s Elements, The Noun Project, and Iconfinder.
